NSERC will supplement, on behalf of Natural Resources Canada – Canadian Forest Service, your USRA, CGRS M or CGRS D by $5,000 for one year.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by NSERC staff according to the eligibility criteria and supplements will be offered to those most closely aligned with the objectives of the supplement. Applications chosen will be those that demonstrate a connection to the forest sector and its transformation. This may include, for example, research projects that contribute to the development of forest sector knowledge, innovative forest products and technologies and strategies for enhanced forest management. These projects should aim to find ways to improve the environmental and/or economic performance of the Canadian forest sector, enabling its transition toward the bioeconomy.
In order to advance Canada’s reconciliation agenda and equity, diversity and inclusion in the areas of research relevant to this funding opportunity, priority may be given to those who self-identify as Indigenous, women, visible minorities, members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and/or persons with a disability.
“Indigenous Peoples” is a collective name for the original peoples of North America and their descendants. “Aboriginal peoples” is also often used as a synonym. For the purposes of this supplement, NSERC uses the Canadian Constitution Act, 1982 definition of Aboriginal peoples as including the First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples of Canada.
If your application is approved, you will receive an award letter from NSERC on the secure Extranet for Applicants. Award letters should be read carefully and kept for future reference.
The supplement payment will be made by NSERC on behalf of the Canadian Forest Service. Your Canadian institution will issue payments to you for the total value of the supplement in accordance with its own payment schedule.
