NSERC Funding
Eligibility

NSERC funds natural sciences and engineering research. Your eligibility to apply for NSERC funding depends on who you are, where you work and the type of funding you seek. To apply for most NSERC programs, you must:

  • be affiliated with an eligible Canadian university or college
  • conduct independent research, not supervised by another researcher
  • be permitted by your institution to supervise students or postdocs (universities)
  • have a position that does not depend on getting NSERC grants
  • have a salary that is not paid from NSERC, SSHRC, or CIHR grant funds (with some exceptions)
