Funding news

Additional funding for international research teams to tackle infrastructure, energy and tech challenges

Canada is a leader in many areas of materials development, advancing innovations in sectors including advanced manufacturing, aerospace and clean energy.

Following the initial announcement of five projects in October 2025, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the US National Science Foundation (NSF) are pleased to announce an additional three projects to be funded through the Call for proposals: Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer our Future (DMREF).

The three partnerships announced today will receive $1.2 million over four years from NSERC, bringing the total for this call to $3.13 million over four years to eight international partnerships.
