Nominations are now being accepted for the 2027 edition of the NSERC prizes. Prize recipients serve as role models within the research community and for aspiring scientists and engineers. Consider nominating a deserving colleague, a peer, a science promoter, a team or a partnership.
The NSERC prizes celebrate exceptional achievement in research, research training, and science promotion across the natural sciences and engineering. Through a range of prestigious national awards, NSERC recognizes scientists and engineers from academia, industry, and the public and not-for-profit sectors whose contributions have advanced knowledge, innovation, and the development of research talent. Nominees are assessed for their broad impacts and achievements on a local, national, or international scale, depending on the competition.

NSERC encourages nominations from a diverse pool of nominees to reflect the breadth of excellence in Canada’s research ecosystem. Diversity takes many forms and should be thought of not only in terms of individual identity but also research area, institution size, region, and language, among other factors.
In nominating a person, an organization or a team, please consider:
- thinking broadly before nominating to ensure diverse candidacies are considered
- mentioning nominees’ various contributions to research or science promotion, such as transfer of knowledge, training and mentoring of highly qualified personnel, or communication of research to non-specialist audiences
- encouraging colleagues to nominate someone as there can be more than one nomination per institution
- submitting their own applications, if appropriate, or asking someone else to do so
NSERC invites the community to share this call for nominations broadly and inclusively in their networks.
