Engaging youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) ensures that we provide future generations with the valuable skills to help them be successful in facing 21st-century challenges. When exposed to STEM, youth develop important problem-solving and critical thinking skills, while also building a solid foundation for science literacy.

Today, the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, and the Honourable Mark Holland, Minister of Health, announced over $10 million in funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s (NSERC) PromoScience program, to offer financial support for organizations working with young Canadians to promote an understanding of science and engineering, including mathematics and technology.

This investment will support 45 science promotion programs that engage and inspire young Canadians to develop their creativity, curiosity, and STEM skills. These PromoScience grantees from across Canada will deliver programs on diverse topics such as environmental and natural sciences, Indigenous knowledge, and water and rivers. They will also provide support for Indigenous students and teacher resources and training.
