College Partnerships
As Executive Director of the Centre des technologies de l’eau (centre for water technologies) in Montréal, Edith Laflamme leads a team of innovators, including Patricia Gomez, Romain Philippe and Rachida Hamidou, who are revolutionizing stormwater management through sustainable solutions for urban environments and ecosystems.
For over 12 years now, the CTE and the Groupe Brunet have been joining forces to develop innovative solutions. Together, they have perfected the SDD3, a hydrodynamic oil and grit separator system that effectively captures suspended materials from stormwater runoff.
Combining CTE’s scientific expertise with Groupe Brunet’s market knowledge, this partnership has created compact, affordable technologies, manufactured entirely in Canada, for treating stormwater and reducing its contamination by pollutants.
This exemplary collaboration has resulted in the installation of more than 1000 SDD3 systems, with $23 million in economic benefits, making it possible to protect aquatic environments, reduce flood risks and help Canadian cities adapt to climate change.
